I loved the drive through Glencoe. The mountains are huge, and hearing about the clan history was fascinating. Stopping in Callander to see the Highland cows was a highlight. They were so interesting to see. I also went on the boat cruise on Loch Ness. It was very peaceful, and the view of Urquhart Castle from the water was amazing. This is a fantastic way to see the Highlands!
Stopping in Fort William was great. We got to see Ben Nevis up close. The town has a nice atmosphere, and our guide suggested a local café for lunch. I loved hearing more about the legend of the Loch Ness monster from our tour guide. I was also blown away by the size of the lake. It is huge! The whole tour felt well-paced, and the landscapes along the way were beautiful. Highly recommend!

The first Loch Ness Monster sighting
The legend of the Loch Ness monster, also known as “Nessie”, goes back to 565 AD. It is reported that back then, Saint Columba saw a “water beast” in the River Ness. He ordered it to leave, and the creature disappeared. This is one of the earliest written records. Centuries later, in 1934, an alleged photograph of Nessie was published. Called the “Surgeon’s Photograph,” it showed a long neck above the water. This image sparked global interest. Though debated today, this image helped make Loch Ness famous. It still draws visitors to search the deep waters for signs of Nessie even today.
